Cassidy Gold Continues to Extend Sanu Filanan & JJ Zones

2005-02-23 14:08 - News Release

KAMLOOPS, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Feb 23, 2005 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) --

Cassidy Gold Corp (TSX VENTURE:CDY) is pleased to announce results from ongoing diamond drilling on the Sanu Filanan Zone and reverse circulation (RC) on the Sanu Filanan and JJ Zones, on its 100% owned Kouroussa Property in Guinea, West Africa. Four diamond drill holes, KD138 to KD141, totalling 659 metres, stepped to the northwest along the Sanu Filanan structure. Highlights include 9.87 grams per tonne gold (g/t Au) over 2.12 metres true thickness and 11.71 g/t Au over 9.90 metres true thickness in KD139 (see Table 1). The two intersections are interpreted to be the Sanu Folo and Sanu Filanan structures, respectively. The inferred strike extent of the Sanu Filanan zone has now increased to 950 metres, and remains open in all directions. Highlights of diamond drill results are as follows:

Diamond drilling on the northwest extension of the Sanu Filanan Zone has now been completed to KD146. The diamond drill is now moving to the X-Vein Zone, 2.5 kilometres to the north, to follow up on positive results in XV001 (4.32 g/t Au over 7.8 metres) and XV004 (151.8 g/t Au over 2.0 metres). Meanwhile, RC drilling will continue toward the north end of the Sanu Filanan to continue testing the northwest extension to that zone.

Reverse circulation (RC) drilling is testing the ground between the Sanu Filanan and JJ Zones and has completed several fences across the southern extensions of both zones. RC holes are currently testing the saprolite down to bedrock with a "kitbit" set-up. KRC020 was collared immediately west of the south extension of the Sanu Filanan structure and encountered a strongly mineralized zone grading 29.13 g/t Au over the bottom 3 metres of the hole (see Table 2). KRC027 was located on the JJ Vein trend, stepping 250 metres to the southeast along strike from the previous southernmost intersection (KD109 - 16.18 g/t Au over 4.9 metres), intersecting 17.58 g/t Au over 16.45 metres true thickness.

To-date over 3500 metres of RC drilling has been completed; additional assay results are expected in the next few weeks. RC drilling is also planned for the Sodyanfe Zone, 2.5 kilometres west of Sanu Filanan, the southern part of the X-Vein, and likely for Mani, Dalaoule, and Banjounani.

A 43-101 compliant resource statement covering the Sanu Filanan and JJ zones is being prepared by RSG Global of Perth, Australia, for release shortly. Data related to results in this release will not be part of the upcoming mineral resource but will be part of future resource updates.

Sampling and Assay Procedures

All drill core samples were split using a rock saw over sample lengths of 0.5 to 1.5 metres. Holes are drilled with HQ rods through the saprolite and reduced to NQ size once in bedrock, typically between 40 and 100 metres depth. RC samples were collected from the cyclone and split or pipe sampled. All samples were sent to ABILAB Afrique de l'Ouest in Bamako, Mali for fire assay using a 50-gram subsample. High-grade samples were checked by reassaying the same pulp. A gravimetric finish was used on all samples assaying over 10 g/t Au and some samples assaying over 4 g/t Au. Several high values were checked by taking a second split from the sample rejects and fire assaying with both AAS and gravimetric finishes.
