Cassidy Gold digs up 24.38 gpt gold at Kouroussa hole
2005-04-06 13:09 ET - News Release
Mr. James Gillis reports
RC HIGHLIGHTING NEW MINERALIZED ZONES NEAR SANU FILANAN
Cassidy Gold Corp. has released results from continuing reverse circulation (RC) drilling on its
100-per-cent-owned Kouroussa property in Guinea, West Africa. As of March 1, 2005, 13,262
metres of RC drilling in 319 holes had been completed in the Sanu Filanan -- JJ area. The RC
drill is now moving over to Sodyanfe, two kilometres to the northwest.
Cassidy has drilled a series of fences of RC holes around and adjacent to the Sanu Filanan and
JJ zones. Most of the RC holes are currently being drilled with a "kitbit" setup through the
saprolite to the top of bedrock at a dip of minus 60 degrees to an average depth of 45 metres.
Holes are arranged in a "head-to-toe" alignment, in which a hole is collared on the surface
immediately above the terminus of the preceding hole. Targets include:
-strike extension of both Sanu Filanan and JJ zones;
-ground between both zones; and
-potential zones northeast of JJ.
Results presented here encompass RC holes KRC116 to KRC191. KRC116 to KRC145 stretch across the
northern portion of the Sanu Filanan and the northeastern extension of the JJ. KRC146 to KRC170,
200 metres northwest of and parallel to the previous line, extend across the northern limit of
the Sanu Filanan and western portion of the Sanu Folo. KRC171 to KRC186 step another 200 metres
to the northwest, and KRC187 to KRC191 are located approximately 250 to 350 metres west of Sanu
Filanan.
Highlights of RC drill results are included in the table below.
KRC121 to KRC123 intersected the main Sanu Filanan structure 25 metres northwest of KD125
(32.11 grams per tonne Au over 9.19 metres true thickness), as well as near KD127 (6.96 grams
per tonne Au over 10.25 metres true thickness). The mineralized intersections in KRC122 (21.8
grams per tonne Au over 19 metres) and KRC123 (6.24 grams per tonne Au over 24 metres) further
support and define this high-grade section of the Sanu Filanan zone.
KRC135 (2.06 grams per tonne Au over 13 metres) and KRC141 (1.17 grams per tonne Au over two
metres) intersected mineralized intervals associated with the east-trending Sanu Folo structure
and northwest-trending JJ structure, respectively. KRC135 demonstrates that Sanu Folo is a
viable target.
KRC148 (1.19 grams per tonne Au over three metres) is located approximately 250 metres west of
the main Sanu Filanan structure and 200 metres northwest (along strike) of KRC187 (4.09 grams
per tonne Au over eight metres), and KRC188 (3.05 grams per tonne Au over two metres). These
intersections may mark a previously unrecognized mineralized zone running subparallel to and up
to 300 metres west of the Sanu Filanan zone. No diamond drill holes tested this area and both
are just beyond the limit of previous soil geochemistry coverage (complete results of a recently
completed soil sampling program west of Sanu Filanan are expected shortly).
KRC157 (0.95 gram per tonne Au over three metres) and KRC174 (1.29 grams per tonne Au over five
metres) are located along the northwest extension of the Sanu Filanan zone, with the latter
stepping around 60 metres northwest of previous drilling (KD146). The Sanu Filanan now stretches
1,100 metres along strike.
KRC168 (9.44 grams per tonne Au over five metres) and KRC169 (24.38 grams per tonne Au over
seven metres) highlight a new zone of mineralization 100 metres northeast of the Sanu Filanan
trend and 40 metres north of Sanu Folo. Orientation of this mineralized zone is uncertain and
more drilling is planned for the area.
KRC197 to KRC319 have tested north and east of the JJ zone, across sections of significant
artisanal workings and highly anomalous gold-in-soil geochemistry. Results from continuing RC
drilling will be released as they become available from the assay lab. Diamond drilling is
scheduled to resume April 22, 2005, on targets identified during this phase of RC drilling.
Sampling and assay procedures
RC samples were collected from the cyclone and split or pipe sampled. All samples were sent to
Abilab Afrique de l'Ouest in Bamako, Mali, for fire assay using a 50-gram subsample. High-grade
samples were checked by reassaying the same pulp. A gravimetric finish was used on all samples
assaying over 10 grams per tonne Au and some samples assaying over four grams per tonne Au.
Several high values were checked by taking a second split from the sample rejects and fire
assaying with both AAS and gravimetric finishes.
Personnel
The exploration team in Guinea consists of project manager Marc-Andre Boudreau, BSc, Marthe
Archambault, MSc, PGeo, and Maxime Dupere, BSc. Christopher Wild, PEng, vice-president,
exploration, for Cassidy Gold, is the qualified person for this release.
