Cassidy Gold drills 8.0 m of 5.17 g/t Au at Kouroussa

2006-03-02 14:15 ET - News Release

UPDATE ON BAG FARM - JUNCTION TREND AT KOUROUSSA GOLD PROJECT, GUINEA

Cassidy Gold Corp. has released additional results from continuing reverse circulation (RC) and air-core drilling on its 100-per-cent-owned Kouroussa project, located in Guinea, west Africa. RC drilling continues to focus on three zones: Kinkine, Bag Farm and Junction. Recent air-core drill results suggest mineralization trends from Bag Farm to Junction, a distance of 1.7 kilometres. The RC drill has recently completed 28 drill holes on the Bag Farm zone, is currently drilling at Kinkine and will return to the Junction zone in the next few days. A third drill has arrived on site to begin core drilling at Junction, Kinkine and Sanu Folo.

Bag Farm-Junction trend
The Bag Farm-Junction trend stretches from the Bag Farm zone at Sodyanfe in the southwest to the Junction zone and X-Vein in the northeast, over a distance of at least 1.7 kilometres. Two fences of air-core holes cross this trend midway between the two zones. KRAB340 intersected 1.56 grams per tonne gold over 52.0 metres and KRAB369 intersected 0.90 g/t Au over 32.0 metres, approximately 500 metres and 250 metres north of Bag Farm, respectively (table 1). In addition, KRAB331 intersected 0.98 g/t Au over 20.0 metres approximately 275 metres south of the Junction zone. The southernmost RC hole in the Junction zone, KRC764, intersected 2.18 g/t Au over 25.0 metres.

Bag Farm zone
A program of 28 holes totalling 2,624 metres was recently completed on the Bag Farm zone, testing the idea that major controls on mineralization were oriented northeasterly, similar to the controls observed at Junction. Holes were drilled to the northwest to intersect mineralization at a more optimal angle. Previous drilling had tested a northwesterly orientation, similar to that observed at Sanu Filanan and JJ, with some success. For instance, KRC710 had intersected 2.53 grams per tonne gold over 10.0 metres, 7.07 g/t Au over 4.0 metres and 3.32 g/t Au over 3.0 metres.

Partial results have been received from 21 of the 28 holes (table 2). Highlights include 5.17 g/t Au over 8.0 metres in KRC809 and 5.24 g/t Au over 3.0 metres in KRC810. Other notable results include: 1.36 g/t Au over 7.0 metres in KRC793, stepping 160 metres to the northeast from the Bag Farm, and 1.09 g/t Au over 12.0 metres in KRC795, stepping 100 metres to the northeast. KRC791 and KRC792 are on section with KRC793. In addition, KRC 796 intersected 0.88 g/t Au over 10.0 metres, 1.89 g/t Au over 4.0 metres and 2.22 g/t Au over 3.0 metres on section with KRC795. KRC799 steps another 50 metres southeast of KRC795. True thicknesses are not known at this time, but planned core drilling will assist in the interpretation.

Geologically, the Bag Farm and Junction zones are very similar. Both appear to be northeast-trending zones of mineralization, consisting of quartz veining and silicification in fine-grained sedimentary rocks. Junction zone mineralization appears to dip moderately to the southeast. Updated location maps will be posted on the company's website shortly.

Exploration Program
Currently, RC drilling has moved to Kinkine to follow up very positive results there (see Cassidy Gold news in Stockwatch dated Dec. 22, 2005, Jan 19 and Feb 9, 2006). Fourteen drill holes are planned for Kinkine. An additional 16 drill holes are planned for step out drilling on the Junction zone to expand the potential gold resource there. Resource drilling totalling 3,810 metres is also planned for Sanu Folo to further define and expand the resource picture there.

A diamond drill has arrived at Kouroussa to begin drill testing some of the newly discovered mineralized zones, including Junction, Bag Farm and Kinkine. Holes will also target Sanu Folo, JJ and Sanu Filanan where required for resource work. Core drilling will be used to assess the structural geology, lithology and alteration, and to collect samples for bulk density determinations and metallurgical testwork.

Air-core drilling continues to test high-priority targets in the Koekoe and Sodyanfe area. In addition, air-core holes are planned in the vicinity of KRAB416 at Kinkine South (23.35 g/t Au over 20.0 metres). From there, the air-core rig will be sent north to Benegban to test a significant soil geochemical anomaly and artisanal dig site. Planning is under way to move the air-core rig to Dalaoule and Banjounani in the western portion of the Tambiko permit.

Soil geochemical sampling continues at Tambiko block 2 (east) and Karikarissa, 10 and 30 kilometres northeast of Sanu Filanan, respectively. Regolith mapping of the prospect areas is continuing. Interpretation and target analysis studies continue on airborne magnetics and radiometrics data collected by Fugro in December. Preliminary interpretations of geophysical data are now being used in exploration planning.

Sampling and assay procedures
RC and air-core drill samples were collected from the cyclone and split or pipe sampled to one-kilogram size. All samples were sent to the SGS analytical laboratory in Siguiri, Guinea, for fire assay using a 50-gram subsample. Samples assaying greater than five g/t gold are reassayed using a metallics screen technique. Repeat assays are made on every 25th sample, and duplicates and blanks are submitted, one each in every 20 samples. Quality control and quality assurance are closely monitored by RSG Global personnel.

Personnel
The exploration team in Guinea is headed by project manager Nick Hewson of RSG Global. Christopher J. Wild, PEng, vice-president, exploration, for Cassidy Gold, is the qualified person for this release.
